REGIONAL RELAYS WRAP UP
What a great day!!!

38 teams competed in near perfect weather on Saturday, with some outstanding performances culminating in 32 teams competing in finals (i.e. Top 8) and the club improving on its performance from the previous year, winning 15 medals (7 gold, 3 silver & 5 bronze). We also had a further 5 teams finish 4th, so were desperately unlucky not to finish with even more medals.

Congratulations to the u13 Mixed 4x200m team of Ambali Pillai, Caitlin Pinto, Will Sharp & Adam Spencer, who broke the State Record in this event for the 3rd year running (note: although the 1st year the record was broken by another team the next day).

We also had 3 athletes (Natalie Clucas, Ella Rizzi & Charlotte-Ruby Robinson) who competed for the first ever Southern Metropolitan Regional teams, who were made up of athletes from Centres that were unable to form their own team, due to their being less than 6 athletes in those athletes’ age group. Ella & Charlotte were lucky enough to win medal (Charlotte two bronze & Ella one bronze), however, I can’t add them to our tally, unfortunately (I’ll still claim them though).

Had 24 teams qualify last year, from 35 region finalists, and had 32 region finalists this year, so hopefully we can get close to that number again this year (I’m tipping 22).
