PRESIDENT’S WELCOME
Hello everyone again and welcome to the MLAC 2014/15 season.
A special welcome to our new families, we hope you find the Centre friendly and encourage you and your children to get as much out of your time here as you can.
Each year I aim at a particular area I think we need to improve and this year it is the area of Parental support.
SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS…
MLAC is not a child minding service or a drop off centre for your child.
We need you to help…it’s that simple…that is how this Centre works and it CANNOT work without that help.
The committee will always endeavour to assist all parents interested in learning the basics of measuring, recording and even correct technique in a friendly and supportive fashion so as to ensure all age groups have adequate and competent support for the smooth running of our Athletics program. Watch the website for more info on this forum, but it is hoped Wednesday sessions can be utilized for this purpose.
We encourage BOTH athletes and parents to attend our Wednesday training sessions.
This season we will expand our coaching to try and enhance a growing number of very talented Cross Country / middle distance runners.
The centre aims to assist you in a friendly helpful way so you need not feel timid about coming forward with questions or clarification if you are unsure of something. The added benefits of being involved with you children during their activities is an enormous bonus for you and your children…they perform better and are proud to be their best especially when their mums, dads or guardians are there with them…its quite rewarding for the parent as well and I started out the same as all of you all those years ago.
Please be mindful to encourage your child to participate in ALL events regardless of their ability…it will bring the best out in them over time. I feel it is extremely important for their overall development.
Finally, regional events have been well supported in the last few seasons and this must continue to grow…this is where you children get a real taste for healthy structured competition at a higher level. It is more than worth your while to have your children involved.
