LAVic On Track Program

The On Track program is designed to give young athletes the best opportunity to experience and to enjoy athletics.

By providing a quality mix of skill development, plenty of practice and appropriate age level competition, young athletes enjoy more of their time in athletics and develop their skills across the athletic spectrum of track and field events.

What is On Track?

On Track is a progressive Skills Based Program that aims to provide children with more:

  • activity
  • instruction
  • skill development
  • enjoyment.

The program is designed to teach young athletes skills before they are asked to perform them in a competitive environment.

The program focuses on the fundamental motor skills all the way through to the athletic skills. Young athletes participate in games, activities, drills and competitions to develop the fundamental athletic skills needed for doing all events.

The program has five levels. Each level has skills and each skill has progressive techniques. As the skill is learnt, it is developed further and further until the final athletic skill has been developed.

Currently this modified event program is aimed at the U6 age group.

On Track Co-ordinators

Moorabbin Little Athletics Centres is keen to hear from parents who are willing to learn about On Track and becoming Centre Co-ordinators.

Centre Co-ordinators have attended workshops and are provided with training manuals to run On Track at their Centres.

Workshops are conducted by Little Athletics Victoria throughout the State and are designed for, but not exclusive to:

  • Parents of U6, U7 & U8’s
  • Coaches, assistant coaches and trainee coaches
  • Age group managers
  • Committee members.

Workshops are two hours of duration and include theory and practical sessions for implementation, consolidation or refinement of the On Track program at your Centre.

Encouragement, enjoyment and accomplishment are equally important to the athletes as they are to the Co-ordinators and parents.
